The Listening with Myriad and Victory Sting

At the Noisebox in Camas, WA. Jan 20,2006

Gabe leads The Listening (fka:Worship Circus)

They played almost the entire new album "Worship Circus Becomes The Listening". I must say one of a few bands we have heard that sounds as good live as their produced CDs. What an evening! Josiah looked like the wizard at times running the boards with switches, knobs, sliders, and still able to play the keys. The boys in the band were totally in sync. Eric on drums kept things somewhat bolted down and rolling. We have seen The Listening three times this past year and their intensity never lets up, whether playing for 20,000 or 60. My favorite song, there's a few but "Isaiah" is tops at the moment. Chris and Gabe on guitars were awesome. They rock the place and then moving in the strobes looked cool. Earlier concert at The Service Station in Spokane,WA back in Nov.2005

One of the bands we caught a glimpse at Creationfestwest 2005, we were psyched when we heard they were playing with The Listening. Rockin sound. Trying to get pics of the drummer was difficult with Jon on guitar climbing all over the drum set. The sound system struggled a bit to keep up with these guys but they overcame it and kept the sound coming. Their new drummer seemed right up to speed with the music, very cool. Another nice touch was the bow on the bass. Their web site: http://www.themyriad.net/  or they too can be caught on myspace at http://www.myspace.com/themyriad

A new band, Victory Sting played with a solid sound and they too had to overcome sound problems but did well in that. I understood them to say their monitors were not working, and myself not being on stage in anyway, I understand that its difficult to play without them, not being able to hear themselves. Lots of energy. There was one more band before Victory Sting but we arrived a bit late.

listening 030.jpg (85371 bytes) Overall it was a fantastic evening. Small crowd, almost like a personal concert venue. The Noisebox has only been open a  month so I figure the crowds will come. It is run by the folks who do Tom Fest, that alone should say it should do well. Info about The Noisebox is available at their myspace site: http://www.myspace.com/thenoisebox  They have cool maps and info for you if you are in the Pacific NW. listening 007.jpg (71782 bytes)
